Corona Status Dec 2020

Lars Poulsen - 2020-12-16

The case numbers have risen dramatically, both in the US and locally. The statewide tightening is very necessary. You probably won't get vaccinated until late March, so be careful until then!

The National Summary

National Graph

New infections per day about 200,000 - which is 66.7 per 100,000 population.

The Short Digest

As you can see, we have a rapid rise in COVID-19 here in Santa Barbara County. While the numbers are a bit higher in the North County (Santa Maria/Lompoc), the difference is smaller now than last month. (The above numbers are all county-wide.) We still have more than half our ICU beds open, but Ventura County has filled all theirs, so we will probably see them moving patients up here in the next week.

While we have more sick people, the number of deaths has not gone up. This will change very quickly, if we do not have ICU beds.

So be very careful. No parties, no driking outside of home, and wear a mask if you are within 6 feet of people who do not live with you.
